Challah Especially for Autumn or Rustic Wedding

Rustic weddings are in the air. Today I saw these rustic-looking multi-colored, multi-grain challahs at my favorite DC-area bagelry, Goldberg’s.

When I say multi-grain, I mean that the three strands of the challahs were made from different types of dough: egg dough, whole wheat, rye, pumpernickle, and others. Each loaf was made from a different combination of doughs. The combination results in beautiful, artisanal loaves in autumnal colors.

After the motzi blessing over the bread, the individual knobs of the challah can be pulled apart and put into serving baskets; a pretty, multi-colored selection of bread.
